We’ve listened to your feedback and have improved spectacle Rx lens ordering to make it even simpler and more convenient for you! On Saturday, October 22, 2005 you will notice new features and functionality to the spectacle Rx lens engine. Here’s a look at our new improvements:


Improved Order Details and Order Confirmation Pages

The Order Confirmation pages and Order Details pages now have a new look and functionality to make placing an Rx lens order even more convenient. The new Order Confirmation pages and Order Details pages will still contain all of the pertinent order information, however, the information will now be organized in an easier-to-read format. Order information will now be grouped into sections for Order/Billing/Shipping information, Current Order Status, Patient information, Lens information, and Frame/Shape information, making these pages more streamlined. In addition to the new organization, the Order Confirmation and Order Details pages will also contain new navigation that will make accessing other areas of the website even easier.

Order Confirmation Pages

After you have entered an order and have selected to either “Save to Pending Orders” on a New Order, or “Send Order Now” on a New Order, you will be directed to the Order Confirmation page. You will now have the ability to perform a number of actions all from within the Order Confirmation page.

Order Confirmation Page for Pending Orders

1. “New Order” Button - Clicking this button will allow you to place a completely new order and will take you to the Rx lens ordering engine.

2. “Edit Order” Button - Clicking this will open the order in the Rx lens ordering engine and populate the fields that have been entered. You will be able to make changes and select to “Save to Pending” or “Send Order Now.”

3. “Send Order” – Clicking this will allow you to immediately send the pending order.

4. Highlighted Message Bar - Now on all order confirmation pages, you will be able to easily view the stage of the ordering process for your order. For example, the highlighted message for the order in Figure 3 displays, “Order Saved. Click ‘Send Now’ to Submit”.

5. Improved layout groups order information by section, making it better organized and easier to read.

Order Confirmation Page for Sent Orders

1. “New Order” Button – Clicking this button will allow you to place a completely new order and will take you to the Rx lens ordering engine.

2. “Pending Orders” – Clicking this button will take you to the Pending Orders section of the site.

3. “Order Status” Button – Clicking this button will take you to the Order Status section of the site.

4. Highlighted Message Bar - Now on all order confirmation pages, you will be able to easily view the stage of the ordering process for your order. For example, the highlighted message for the order in Figure 4 displays, “Your Order Has Been Submitted”.

Order Details Pages

These pages appear when you are in the “Pending Orders” or “Order Status” sections of the site and you select an order to view. From the Order Details pages, you will now have the ability to perform a number of actions without having to navigate away from these pages.

Order Details Page for Pending Orders, as Viewed from Pending Orders

The Order Details Page for a Pending Order, as viewed from the Pending Orders section is the same as the Order Confirmation page from a Pending Order. Please refer to Figure 3 above for more details.

Order Details Page for Sent Orders, as Viewed from Order Status or Archived Orders

1. “New Order” Button – Clicking this will open the Rx lens engine so that you can place a new order.

2. Highlighted Message Bar - Now on all Order Details pages, you will be able to easily view the stage of the ordering process for your order. For example, the order in Figure 5 displays, “Your Order Has Been Submitted.”

3. Improved layout groups order information by section, making it better organized and easier to read.

Selecting Available Lens Treatments with a Single Click

When choosing the appropriate lens treatments for the Rx, you will no longer have to highlight the desired treatment and click the “>>” arrow to select, or “<<” arrow to deselect the treatment. Now, you will only have to single-click on the desired treatment in the “Available Treatments” field to highlight and select the treatment. Once selected, the treatment will appear in the “Selected Treatments” field (See Figure 7). From here, you can deselect a treatment by clicking once on the treatment that you do not want in the “Selected Treatments” field. Doing so will move the undesired treatment back to the “Available Treatments” field. Removing the “<<” and “>>” buttons will save time and will reduce errors by allowing you to select or deselect one treatment at a time, with a single mouse-click.

Improved Error Messages

When placing a spectacle Rx lens order, the web "smart"  engine checks the order for accuracy and completeness. This happens while you are entering the Rx information and when you click “Save to Pending” or “Send Order Now.” Before the order is saved or submitted, the web  “smart” engine displays the number of error the order contains, allowing you to make the appropriate changes and complete the order faster! In addition, error messages will appear in appropriate section of order engine – making it easier to find and fix any mistakes (See Figure 8).
